This is my year!
At least that’s what I keep telling myself. But of course last year was supposed to be my year as well. But alas, my query letters never made it to the printer, let alone to agents, so there was no request for a manuscript and no signing contract in my hand by the Fall and a publishing one by Christmas.
But, hey! I learned a lot about myself in the process.
And what a process it turned out to be. I mean, yes I knew it would be work getting published, but I didn’t know exactly how much or what exactly. Let’s just say that in writing my queries I started researching the process more, and then I started reading other people’s queries, following agent’s blogs, getting advice, and joyed in others’ writing as well as my own. All the while improving on my craft. That can only be a good thing.
This will be my year though to break out and take the next step to seeing my book published. I love my story. I daydream about my story. My story is already three books long and sometimes I dream about what happens to my characters twenty years later. They feel so real to me that sometimes we talk about them around the dinner table like they are. That’s probably due to the fact that the setting of my books is a real place that my family has been to–actually hails from. A magical one. Not many people know that it’s there….but soon.
Very soon.
This year. Because THIS is my year. Hope it is yours as well and that all your writing dreams come true for you as well. See you on the other side!!!
